Structural Design Summary
Medford follows Oregon's statewide building codes, however, some local design requirements are specific to this area. Below are general guidelines, but individual properties may vary.
- Earthquake Loads: Medford is classified seismic zone D1
- Wind Loads: Most residential sites in Medford are classified as Wind Exposure B
- Soil Bearing Capacity: Default soil bearing capacity is 1,500 (psf).
- Snow Load: Grants Pass residential, 25 psf
- Rainfall Intensity: Drainage requirements 1.3 inches of rainfall per hour.
- Frost Depth – Foundations must extend 12 inches below grade.
